Fireplace Pilot Light Not Working -Replacing Thermocouple on a remote gas fireplace- VERY EASY

If your gas fireplace pilot light won't stay lit then you should replace your thermocouple. I've called service people to repair and replace mine in the past but it seems like this is now a semi-annual requirement. The typical recommendation and approach is to clean the thermocouple using sandpaper and compressed air. While that may work, it's probably just a temporary fix. Instead, you can buy the universal parts on line for under $30 and replacing the thermocouple takes only about 5 minutes. This could save you ~$200 over a service call. Replacing the thermocouple should be a more permanent solution than cleaning the old one.

The hardest and dirtiest part of the job is getting all the logs out of the way so you can get back in there to do the work. If you're like me and decide that it makes sense to clean out the whole fireplace while you're already there; then cleaning the logs, upgrading the rock and tinder will take about 1 hour.

NEVER USE A SERVICE TECHNICIAN TO DO THIS JOB AGAIN!

Here’s a link to the coupler I bought for$14 on Amazon:
Water Heater Pilot Assembely Includes Pilot Thermocouple and Tubing LP Propane https://a.co/d/bkcJ5tB. If you have natural gas, you made need a different model.
