HOW TO ELIMINATE INVASIVE VINES / BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU PLANT

How to eliminate invasive vines / Be careful what you plant. Yet another problem to be solved in this garden. I share a chainlink fence with my neighbour. However the previous owner of my property had planted 6 different types of vines on the fence (4 of which are considered invasive). If you cut back vines you are not eliminating them - they just keep coming back so you need to eliminate them permanently and there is basically only one effective method - to use a stump killer on a fresh cut vine. In today's video I am taking you through this process and also the safety measures you need to take when manipulating a very toxic agent. After application, the aerial parts of the vine will start dying off within a few days but the roots need 4-6 weeks. Once the vine is dead I will have the job of removing the vine from the chainlink fence - a no mean feat since this has been growing and entangling in this fence since 1997. So I need to take things slowly and patiently and give you guys an update after winter when hopefull it will be finished. In spring my neighbour and I will be putting up a plain brown cloth on the fence since both of us have shrub borders infront of the fence so basically we just want to stop the dogs staring in!
