Cape Town Battling Widespread Flooding Due to Severe Weather
8 April 2025, Heavy rains have caused extensive flooding in Cape Town, affecting many neighbourhoods and causing major disruption. Areas such as Table View, Wynberg and Parow have reported severe flooding, with many vehicles submerged and roads impassable.

The City’s Disaster Risk Management spokesperson Charlotte Powell said the Disaster Operations Centre has received numerous reports of blocked roads and flooding incidents, particularly in Southfield and Vygieskraal, where canals have overflowed. Emergency services are actively responding to the situation to mitigate further impacts.
