Digital innovation by design: from disruption to acceptance | Nicolas Henchoz | TEDxLausanne

What is design and what makes an innovation ‘disruptive’ in design? Nicolas Henchoz will share his vision on design and tell us about the importance of the user experience in scientific and technological innovations. With three concrete examples of his team’s work on new digital interfaces, augmented reality and digital heritage, Nicolas Henchoz will share his explorations of the interface between design and emerging technologies.
Nicolas was trained as a scientist, worked as a science journalist and at the direction of the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL). He is now leading the EPFL+ECAL Lab which explores the perspectives of emergent technologies through Design. He has curated many projects and exhibitions worldwide and is the author of the book ”Design for Innovative Technologies, From Disruption to Acceptance". The work of the EPFL+ECAL Lab was awarded at the Festival of Design of Berlin (2010, 2011).

This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx
