Parkland shooting victim was only thinking about his daughter as he fought attackers

Matt Philips says the only thing he was thinking about when a man and 17-year-old attempted to rob him in his vehicle Friday morning was protecting his daughter.

"My daughter. My daughter was the only thing I was thinking about," he said after being discharged from the hospital. "She's three years old and she was buckled in the back seat."

The incident began when a man and a 17-year-old attempted to rob Philips while he was sitting in his car with his daughter, according to the Pierce County Sheriff's Department.
