Urban authorities decry delayed government funds, warn of service delivery gaps

Urban Local Governments, through their Union of Urban Authorities Association in Uganda, have expressed serious concern over the delayed remittance of government funds, which are meant to be spent within a strict two-week period. The leaders say this delay disrupts service delivery, hinders project development, and prevents the timely implementation of local programs, especially for those municipalities unable to absorb the funds within the required timeframe. While addressing journalists today, Wilson, who also serves as Mayor of Koboko Municipality, unveiled the priority areas for development under the Uganda Support to Municipal Infrastructure Development Program, following Koboko’s recent inclusion among the 15 municipalities selected for FY 2027/2028.
