Ptuj is a small city in the north eastern part of Slovenia. It is known as the oldest city in Slovenia as it has already been inhabited in the stone age. One of the Ptuj’s biggest attractions is the Kurent carnival, which I have already made a video of. You can find it on my channel.

PTUJ CASTLE is one of the most magnificent castles in Slovenia and is a home to Ptuj - Ormoz regional Museum. Here we can find the largest collection of musical instruments, traditional masks, weapons and striking tapestries. From here we can see the entire city and its surroundings.

ORPHEUS MONUMENT - next to the city tower stands a five meters high monument in memory of Marco Valeri Ver, who was the mayor of Poetovio (roman name for Ptuj) in the second century. Interesting fact is that this monument used to be a pillar of shame in the middle ages.

CITY TOWER - somewhere I have read that the city tower only has three clocks because the castle lords did not want to contribute their share for the clocks. In the sign of the protest citizens left out the clock in the direction of the castle.

THE CITYPARK is located next to the Drava river. A beautiful path takes us right to the Ptuj lake. At the park kids will enjoy the playground while their parents can rest in the shade.

THE FAIRYTALE FOREST RED RIDING HOOD in Mohorkova grapa is located a short drive from Ptuj. It will impress the most children. Forest path leads past many fairytale houses, where you can get to know fairytales and their teachings.

All the tired or hungry ones can get some peace and rest at the benches under the tree tops of mighty beech trees. The information boards will brighten up the journey with witty content. Here children can also enjoy the playground and feed animals like goats, Indian pig, ducks, chickens, turtles and donkey.

The fairytale forest comes to life in all it’s charm at Christmas time, when the doors of the fairytale crib are opened. Between 26th and 30th of December countles lights and candles shine and the houses come to life in white Christmas-festive image.
