OODLES OF NOODLES In SHANGHAI / Bull Frog Noodles + Crab Noodles & More!!!

Shanghai and it’s noodles were better than I could have ever imagined!

Today I went on an all out noodle adventure in Shanghai as I tasted three unique bowls of noodles to Shanghai.

I started at Ha Ling 哈灵面馆 for their famous Bull Frog noodles. Yeah, starting the day with frog noodles means it’s going to be an interesting day. However, they proved to be even more delicious than what I could have imagined. A thick, rich, and spicy broth filled with slick noodles and meaty, tender frog meat.

After this I headed to Wei Xiang Zhai 味香斋 for Sesame seed noodles 麻酱面. A noodle that is so simple, yet absolutely beautiful and not lacking in the flavor department. I made sure to get some spicy pork to pile on top to add even more flavor.

Lastly, I went to A Niang noodles, a place that Shanghai locals have been loving for years and years. While their claim to fame are the yellow croaker noodles, I could not pass up on the opportunity to try the crab noodles. And a good choice it was. Meaty crab with roe all put into a slippery slurry sauce piled high on top of some noodles. A slurp it up until there isn’t any more left bowl of noodles.

Now you all know I had to get some sweets and while in Shanghai, my go to was buying shortbread cookies by the weight! I never would have expected this from Shanghai, but I was amazed at how difficult it was to get into this store and get some cookies. I may have had to throw some elbows, but I am glad I did.
