Nishant Shah (Boulder, now in Mumbai) expressing his feelings on completion of eleven years of my online teaching activity,
I need to say something about my students.
I hardly praise any of them in person, but taking this opportunity to tell them my heart.
Student family is another family outside my genetic family.
Most of my students are Busy, Dedicated, Cooperative, Inquisitive, Hardworking, making a mark in their respective profession, open minded -always in search of my criticism, and think of music as a soul elevating medium.
Guru or Teacher is a very high esteemed word, I am just helping them to learn. They are the people who have the great initiative and great efforts to implement.
It is just a co incidence that they met me. Looking to their voracious intensity to learn, they would have progressed otherwise too.
It is the blessings of my gurus that made me open minded to pass on whatever i could imbibe from their generous teachings.
I always encourage them to listen and learn from other legends too when i reach my limits. But it is sheer their love for me that even if few are not on board with me, they are still connected respectfully with me.
Many have flown thousands of miles to visit me in person from year to year.
I am so pleasantly busy to interact anytime with at least some students even outside their schedule. Not having a busy schedule in travelling, I enjoy this privilege. It is a matter of worry if i do not receive questions from students.
In fact their queries have made me an alert student and enriched me. My online experience so far has taught me a wonderful lesson – every person irrespective of caste, creed, nationality is equally affected by a common language, i.e. music.
It is my luck that I happened to get a gem of such nice student family. Trusting somebody unknown at the different corner of globe requires lot of guts, that too way back in 2009 when concept of online teaching was not so known, esp for sarangi. Few initial years of online sarangi teaching were struggle some in terms of facing criticisms, but that is the routine course for anything out of the box you do. For at least last five to six years it is considered an accepted mode of teaching.
Wishing all my lovely students a happy journey in anything they try their hand at.
