Technology analyst discusses details on bank scams, social engineering attacks

CHCH News anchor Matt Ingram spoke with technology expert Carmi Levy, to help explain the methods and ways fraudsters scam people.

Following cases of fraud in Hamilton over the last few months, Levy talked about the ways that scammers are able to know details about their intended victims ahead of time.

Scotiabank told CHCH News that some victims of fraud are at fault despite being scammed, and are on the hook for the money.

Ingram asked if banks are doing enough to protect their customers against social engineering attacks.

Carmi then described ways that people can protect themselves from future scams.
