Soundplay - How are you doing Taylor?
Taylor - I'm doing good, I just finished my first set at the Ringling Museum. Its been very fun, eventful, and I've learned a lot.

Soundplay - So what were your expectations coming here? Did you fly all the way out here and just have to play on the spot? How did it all go?
Taylor - Uhh*laughs* pretty much. I would say that it was kind of like I came in blind not really knowing much, or exactly what to expect. I kind of thought about the idea of playing with certain drum beats from groups that I loved as a kid or just things that inspired me. But when I saw the setup of how the triggers were working, it was very dynamic in how they are set up so it just made think about everything so differently. I was like "oh man well then I gotta explore dynamics now" *laughs*. So yeah it was kind of on the fly pretty much.

Soundplay - So you've literally got an insane track record. You were just on the Late Night Show with Steve Meyer right?
Taylor - SETH MEYERS
Soundplay - My bad*laughs*, Seth Meyers. I don't really watch that show too much.
Taylor - *laughs* Yeah so I was on the Late Night show with Seth Meyers and that was really cool. I was sitting in for a week. They do a thing where they feature drummers every week, and I've been honored enough to be one of them, and it was really fun.

Soundplay - I mean I feel like he was really honored because of your serious track record growing right now. Am I right or am I right?
Taylor - *laughs*
Soundplay - You've played with Beyonce, and Bruno Mars was on there too right? For the super Bowl performance. Then there was.....well you name them off.
Taylor - Well i'm not really that...........
(told to hurry by employee)

Soundplay - Okay skipping to our final topic for time's sake, You're a Berkley graduate where you got your bachelors in music business correct?
Taylor - Uh huh.
Soundplay - Now for kids going to school who just want to take it to the next level, I feel like, at least when I was going to school for music, we were never given the proper guidance on where to go after school in order to take it to the next level. So did you automatically after school shoot for managers? Did you specifically build the connections at Berkley? Was it that school in particular? How would you quantify your success thus far?
Taylor - It's definitely been a process where all of the building blocks that I have worked on thus far had led to the next point. I think firstly drums were focal point. I always had the urge to be a producer which led me to Berkley. Outside of Berkley I pursued a publishing deal as soon as I left. And then after that I decided that that's not exactly what I wanted to do. So it led me to start touring, and then I feel like I learned that's not what I wanted to do. So it's been like a path, where i have just taken different journeys that have just led me to this point where I am just kind of using all of it. I'm using the production that I've learned, the touring, the performing, like it's all coming into one. And it's funny because I always thought that I had to do it for other people, but it turns out that I could just simply do it for myself. *chuckles*

Soundplay - *chuckles* And for those who don't know, she's definitely come a long way and to see her grow has been insane. I would suggest everybody go back on her YouTube channel.
Taylor - *starts laughing*
Soundplay - Yeah you know where im going with this. Taylor Gordon look her up, from her very first video throwing in Latin grooves.
Taylor - *starts laughing even harder* I'm never ever gonna erase any videos, that's gonna be there forever.
Soundplay - No, that's awesome. That's another part of that and I think people really do need to see the growth and the "come up". Because there is a ton of work that is involved with that. People need to know that you're a real person and that ya know, it takes hard work, and you've clearly done it.

Soundplay - So follow her on Youtube, Taylor Gordon....
Taylor – Actually, Tay Grummer, I made that in high school sorry guys *laughs*.
Soundplay - Well thank you Taylor for shredding our ears off.
Taylor - Thank you for having me!
