Solana Mobile sets Jan. 21 launch date for SKR token, confirms airdrop

The team said that 20% of the total supply has been set aside for users and developers eligible to receive tokens.
Solana Mobile's long-anticipated SKR token will go live on Jan. 21, the company said Wednesday.
The update builds on Solana Mobile’s December announcement that SKR would debut in January with a fixed supply of 10 billion tokens. In a post on X, the team said that a snapshot has already been taken for an airdrop allocation, with 20% of the total supply set aside for users and developers eligible to receive tokens.
SKR is designed to act as the governance and incentive layer for Solana Mobile’s growing ecosystem, the team shared previously, which centers on its Seeker smartphone and a decentralized app store. Token holders will be able to stake SKR to so-called Guardians, a delegated group tasked with securing the platform and participating in governance decisions.
The Jan. 21 launch date gives Seeker users a clearer timeline as anticipation builds around the airdrop mechanics and the activation of staking and governance features.
