Jananayak Chandrashekhar University (JNCU) in Ballia, Uttar Pradesh, has released an official notice for Ph.D. admissions for the academic session 2025-26. Online applications are invited for the Research Entrance Test (RET) or RET Exempted categories for various subjects available at the University campus and its affiliated colleges. The online application period begins on August 8, 2025, and the last date to apply is September 8, 2025. The entrance test is scheduled for September 28, 2025.

To be eligible for the RET-2025, a candidate must have a postgraduate degree in the concerned subject with a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade. There is a 5% relaxation in marks for SC, ST, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), EWS, and differently-abled candidates. Candidates appearing for their final year or final semester are also eligible to apply.

The application fee is Rs. 1500 for General, EWS, and OBC candidates, and Rs. 1000 for Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, and PWD candidates, in addition to a registration fee of Rs. 100. The application process is completely online and can be done through the university's official website, jncuadm.samarth.edu.in. The RET consists of two parts: a written test (Test A) for 140 marks and an interview (Test B) for 60 marks. The written test has two papers, each with 70 multiple-choice questions. The first paper assesses research aptitude and methodology, while the second assesses subject-specific knowledge. There is no negative marking.
