Union Home Minister Amit Shah honoured the BSF martyrs by laying wreath before reviewing the 59th raising day parade at Hazaribagh, Jharkhand. A BSF trained dog welcomed him by presenting a flower bouquet. On the occasion, BSF dog squad and motorcycle stuntmen and women showcased their skills. BSF was raised on 01st December 1965 on the recommendation of the committee of secretaries with 25 battalions following the Pakistani attack in April 1965 at Sardar Post at Chhar Bet and Beria Pet in Gujarat's Kutch. Till then the border with Pakistan was manned by State Armed Police Battalion. KF Rustamji became the first founder DG of the BSF.
