Munich's Oktoberfest: Freerunner Jason Paul makes the World´s biggest folk festival his playground!

A rush to the tents, prominent faces in traditional costumes and dirndls, and a boisterous mood: After a two-year break, the 187th Oktoberfest is once again attracting masses of visitors and delivering images the likes of which even the world's largest folk festival had never seen before. The internationally known freerunner Jason Paul from Frankfurt surprised and thrilled the Wiesn-goers with his freerunning skills.

Sideflips in the marquee and a climb up a 90-meter high chain carousel were just two excerpts of his impressive performance at the Theresienwiese.

Jason Paul about his guest performance at the Oktoberfest: "I have visited the Oktoberfest in the past and checked every tent and every stand for parkour possibilities. It's a unique feeling to be able to practice my sport at our largest folk festival and in this terrific atmosphere."

Even before the traditional tapping by Munich's mayor Dieter Reiter, the freerunner had donned traditional costume and conquered an iconic Wiesn spot. On the archway at the entrance to the Oktoberfest, Jason Paul performed a precise backflip and landed expertly on a small platform usually adorned by the Münchner Kindl (Munich's heraldic figure).

Just as he once did the airport in the YouTube hit "Last Call for Mr. Paul" (159 million views), the 31-year-old also made the famous Theresienwiese his playground. Whether in the tents themselves or on the bumper cars, from which he got off in ejection-seat fashion: many visitors got a first-hand taste of his skills.

His almost limitless creativity in overcoming an obstacle - even if it was a waitress - also helped Jason Paul in the packed Paulaner tent. Under the astonished gaze of Clemens Baumgärtner (Head of Labor and Economic Affairs of the City of Munich and Oktoberfest boss) and Andreas Steinfatt (Managing Director of the Paulaner Brewery Group), the table was changed without further ado by means of a sideflip.

The crowds also applauded loudly the classic "Pitt's wall of death" ride. In the eight-meter-high wooden cauldron, the freerunner set off on a wallflip - a backward somersault off the wall - while a steep-wall biker whizzed past above him. He then went up the treadmill of the "Toboggan" tower slide in a handstand and on to the Bayern Tower with a panoramic view of the Bavarian capital. A camera drone filmed the climbing tour of the three-time parkour world champion at a height of 90 meters, capturing drone images of the world's largest folk festival for the first time.
