The power of 3: giving triathlon a whole new meaning | Phil Smith | TEDxGlasgow
Whether it’s braving the open waters, competing in crowded conditions or finishing strong, the analogies between business and triathlon are plentiful. Add technology to the mix and the “Power of 3” creates synergy on multiple levels. Phil Smith will argue that training for and competing in triathlon has made him a better CEO and vice versa. There’s so much more to it than discipline and ambition!
Born and bred in Glasgow and an alumnus of Glasgow University, Phil is the Chief Executive, United Kingdom & Ireland, Cisco, Chairman, Innovate UK and The Tech Partnership. In August 2014, Phil represented Team GB in his age group at the Triathlon World Championships in Edmonton, Canada. He is also the founder of “The Leaderboard”, a cross industry group of CEOs who have raised more than £350,000 for charity for Comic Relief and Sports Relief competing in triathlons.
