There are a lot of products on the market claiming to be lithium-ion battery extinguishers. Encapsulating agents. Wetting agents. All of them making big promises. But most of them have one thing in common — they've never been tested to a real standard.

I spent a day at Solberg's fire test facility in Green Bay, Wisconsin with Mark Seem, Director of Research and Development, to find out what real testing actually looks like. We covered fire test standards, what the UL stamp actually means, foam quality testing, and watched a full UL 162 Class B fire test from start to finish — including a burnback failure.

A test tells you what a product actually does. A demo tells you what someone wants you to think it does. There's a big difference — and right now, the market is full of the second one.
