Non Ho L'Eta -- Michael JR

This is another song I'm posting from the "Unfinished Concert". Michael is 15 here, his voice having recently changed. He had been offstage for about a year and this was his "new-voice" comeback after DREAMLAND. He was very nervous which is easy to see in this video. This song, "Non Ho L'Eta" was the 1964 winner of the annual Eurovision contest. Later when Michael asked me to find a Karaoke of Elvis's mid-60's hit "Please Don't Stop Loving Me" I noticed that the melody was the same as his own "Non Ho L'Eta". On the phone I told him that I felt that must be why he loved the Elvis song so much. He said that no, they are not the same song. Admittedly Elvis's version only uses the first part of the melody and is a much simpler arrangement. We resolved our debate by Michael putting on the karaoke and singing part of "Please Don't Stop...." then switching to "Non Ho L'eta." He said in a surprised voice, "Oh, my God! It is the same song!" This number, like "Anna Maria" already posted, certainly points to the missed opportunities of Michael's potentially fantastic career. What a voice! What a talent!
