The July 2026 Visa Bulletin brings major setbacks for Indian employment-based green card applicants
In this video, we explain why some applicants are calling the July 2026 Visa Bulletin a “green card freeze” for Indian applicants, what that really means, and which categories are most affected.
Key updates include EB-2 India becoming unavailable, EB-1 India retrogressing to October 15, 2022, EB-5 Unreserved India becoming unavailable, and EB-3 India moving forward only slightly to January 1, 2014.
We also explain what happens if your Form I-485 is already pending, why “unavailable” is more serious than normal retrogression, and what Indian applicants should review before making decisions about work, travel, EAD renewals, advance parole, H-1B status, job changes, AC21 portability, or downgrade strategy.
Topics covered in this video:
• July 2026 Visa Bulletin India update
• EB-2 India unavailable
• EB-1 India retrogression
• EB-3 India movement
• EB-5 Unreserved India unavailable
• What “unavailable” means in the Visa Bulletin
• Final Action Dates vs. Dates for Filing
• What happens to a pending I-485
• EAD and advance parole renewal concerns
• H-1B status and long-term green card planning
• EB-2 to EB-3 downgrade considerations
• What Indian applicants should watch for in October 2026
The July 2026 Visa Bulletin does not mean every Indian green card case is frozen. But for many Indian employment-based applicants, especially in EB-2 and EB-5 Unreserved, final green card approval may have to wait until immigrant visa numbers become available again.
