Focus on Raw Umber Watercolour Paint (PBr7)

Painting the stone buildings in this part of northern England calls for a particular yellowish brown hue that is quite difficult to mix in watercolour. I've always favoured Winsor & Newton's Raw Umber for this but have been surprised to find that many watercolourists don't rate it very highly. This short video documents my mini exploration of this earth pigment.

Some reference sources I mention in the video:

Jane Blundell has tested and swatched virtually every watercolour paint in existence and her site is an invaluable repository of information

"The world's finest guide to watercolor painting" by Bruce MacEvoy goes into incredible detail on every aspect of watercolour painting.
