Our expert, Don Copeland, is proud to demonstrate the unique capabilities of the Compress UV printer line. He is going to print directly on the body of a bass guitar using the Compress iUV1200S.
This is a fun creative item for a gift or to promote a brand and the iUV1200s can fit up to 4 of these bass bodies in at a time, or just do just one custom item as shown in the example here.

On this item he is doing a 3 layer type of print. It will require a white under base, the layer of color, and a clear top coat to give it the right look. The Compress UV software will allow you to you customize the data on how much white you will need, how much color you will need and the amount of clear required to give it the look that you want.
It helps you to be able to position each layer to either shrink back or expand over as needed for your item. What this means is you don't have to be a magical graphic artist at the professional level to know what to do. Just generate your artwork and the software has all the tools you need to generate what you need..

This bass guitar is a more complex item but with the software its easy to adjust to what will make the print out most successful. This is a completely raw wood bass guitar body which is awesome to print on. The wood allows the white undercoat and the colors to adhere and embed smoothly on the surface.
To get printing started he first wants to have the artwork sent over to the Compress printer and set the height to make sure the head is close but clears the item for printing. Then he will feed the item into the machine and it begins to print the design he sent over.

You will see the print head swipe left and right with a UV light on both sides. This sets the color down and sets it on the item. Then he printed a clear coat over top of it to give it that varnished look he was going for.
