The Greatest Zombie Feature to Never Evolve Far Enough

Welcome to the tenth episode of my weekly series dubbed "The Mainframe". Inside this week's topic, we discuss pack-a-punch from a mechanical standpoint. We look at the abstract impact the upgrade system has on players in-game.
Pack-a-Punch is such a fascinating evolution in zombies because it made waves the first time it enters the genre, but then made slow incremental changes over the course of 12 years. Every developer in the Call of Duty Activision cycle has tried to put their spin on the feature but nothing has caused the next big step in evolution.
I dive into how pack-a-punch made all guns function the same impacting gameplay in a way that stands in stark contrast to its roots and suggest a system that is as old as pack-a-punch's introduction to try to ad the next step in weapon upgrades.
This week's video was 4 hours late thanks to health issues I had throughout the week. I couldn't get my footage to my editors in a reasonable amount of time. I had to edit the whole video because it would have been utterly unreasonable to dump a 21-minute raw video on my editor with less than 24 hours to edit it. The dip in quality this week is on me, but at the very least we did have an episode to keep the streak alive. Enjoy the video and stay safe.
