HOW TO COOK BISTEK TAGALOG / FILIPINO BEEF STEAK

INGREDIENTS:
1/2 kilo beef sirloin, sliced thinly
1/4 cup soy sauce
10 pieces calamansi, juiced
1 large white onion, sliced into rings
1 large red onion, sliced into rings
3 tablespoons pepper
2 tablespoons brown sugar
Canola oil
1 & 1/2 cup water

INSTRUCTIONS:
1. In a bowl put beef, add soy sauce, calamansi juice, and 2 tablespoons pepper. Mix well. Make sure all ingredients are well distributed.
2. Marinate it at least 30 minutes if you want to cook it straight away, for me I marinate it overnight. Cover it with cling wrap plastic on top and refrigerate it overnight.
3. Heat canola oil in a pan over medium heat
4. Add white onion, sauté it for about 30 seconds then transfer it to a plate. Set aside.
5. Add red onion, saute it for about 30 seconds then transfer it to another plate. Set aside.
6. Pour additional canola oil in the pan, put the marinated beef, pan fry it until it turns lightly brown.
7. Cook 1 side for about a minute over medium heat, after 1 minute flip the marinated beef then cook the other side for about a minute also then transfer it to a clean plate, set aside.
8. Repeat the procedures until all marinated beef are pan fry.
9. Pour-in remaining marinade, i added 1/2 cup of water. Bring to a boil.
10. Add the pan fried beef then add stir fried red onion.
11. Pour additional 1 cup water then add 2 tablespoons brown sugar, 1 tablespoon pepper. Mix well.
12. Simmer it for 40 minutes or until beef is tender. Cook it on low heat.
13. After 40 minutes the beef is now tender.
14. Put the stir fried white onion on top.
15. Cook for 2 minutes.
16. Serve hot.
17. Ready to eat
