On vehicles with a Battery Energy Management (BEM) system, information from the OE battery must be submitted to the BEM system. If the BEM system does not have the correct information about the installed battery, it can cause some... "interesting" problems. And these problems may take months to appear. Those who drive a $40,000 and up car can afford the correct battery. :P
