McMinnville Fire Department received a report of a field fire near Carly court in McMinnville at 1623. Responding units arrived to find a standing grain field on fire in the North end of a field behind Carly Court in McMinnville with winds blowing from the West. Units deployed to the North end of the field for structure protection of building located off of NE Grand haven Dr. A few minutes after arrival and vehicles were positioned at to attack the fire at North End, the wind changed direction towards the south where there were homes located along Carly Ct. As the fire moved rapidly towards the homes there was an initial call to evacuate the ho mes. Fire units managed to stop the fire before it reached the homes. Last units were cleared at 1915.
Cause of the Fire is still under investigation, it is currently classed as suspicious.

Units from McMinnville, ODF, Yamhill, Carlton, Lafayette, Amity worked to stop the fire. It is estimated that 10 acres of standing grain were burned.
