We live in a society that has slowly moved away from a Christian mindset and has adopted a worldly, secular mindset. Many times we are not even aware of it because we have been drawn into it unconsciously, adopting much of what we see on television or elsewhere without knowing that people are trying to affect us in a certain way, a way that often leads us on a path away from Orthodox Christianity. We find ourselves on a path that knows about death, about violence, about evil, about misery but doesn't know about Christ and His victory over death. The attraction of worldliness then leads to a dead-end. Promising to free us it enslaves us to our passions and ultimately deprives us of the hope of the resurrection. The world, the creation, is good, created by God. However, we should not put the created in the place of the Creator and we should not misuse the good matter in a bad way. The Orthodox Church, being a hospital, heals everything broken in man and gives every human, young or old, woman or man, rich or poor a way to overcome the power of death by being united in Christ, Who is the conqueror of death.
