Let’s break down the Top 5 Gait Trainers brought to you by Rehabmart.com.

Starting us off at number five is the Crocodile Pediatric Gait Trainer from R82. The most affordable on this list, the Crocodile is a lightweight posterior gait trainer that folds down to the size of a small suitcase for transport. It has a number of built in tool-less adjustments alongside an array of optional add-ons and sizing options so you can fully customize the trainer for your needs. That said, some users did complain about the maintenance required after several years of use.

Next up at number four is the KidWalk Dynamic Mobility System from Prime Engineering. Unlike other trainers, the KidWalk fully supports the child from behind so they can more naturally engage with their environment using their hands, while its wheel configuration gives the KidWalk exceptional handling in tight environments. 7 colors, 2 sizes, and a number of positioning add-ons make the KidWalk totally customizable for your needs. The nature of that customization does make the donning process a bit more cumbersome though.

Coming in at number three is The Grillo Special Needs Gait Trainer from Innovation in Motion. Right out of the gate, The Grillo offers sizing options that can support adults and users can can select between anterior or posterior options, both of which have such a wide range of motion that users can actually sit and stand without exiting the trainer. Finally, The Grillo has a large variety of options for customization. The only complaint we were able to find was that The Grillo only comes in white.

Taking the number two spot is the LiteGait Pediatric Mobility Frame from Mobility Research. Its two point crane design makes the LiteGait the least intrusive gait trainer on this list, giving the user more freedom. One huge perk is that the LiteGait includes every accessory so that you can customize the trainer once you have it, rather than having to decide beforehand. In that same vein, the LiteGait can easily swap from anterior to posterior positioning without any tools. That said, all that functionality does come with a hefty price tag.

And finally, our pick for the number one slot goes to the Rifton Pacer Gait Trainer. With 17 categories of customization options, five sizes, and five colors, the Pacer is cost-effective because you can purchase only exactly what you need. Each Pacer comes with dynamic casters that allow you to easily adjust the speed and directional allowances of the trainer on the fly. And finally, the largest model can support up to 275lbs, making it an excellent choice for adults.
