Children in state care fragile after ‘trauma upon trauma’

A psychiatrist says the system is failing when it comes to the mental health of children in state care.

Oranga Tamariki doesn't even collate figures of how many kids in its care experience mental illness, and there is no specific mental health support for them.

The Ministry is now being called incompetent, and it's being accused of trying to hide key statistics because of what they would reveal.
