The Story of Dr. Will Kirby on Big Brother 2

This is the story from start to finish of Dr. Will Kirby in Big Brother 2. It needs to be said that I focus heavily on the game he played throughout this video, skipping over parts of the season that don't focus much on his strategy. A lot more happens with Will beyond what this video portrays, but I specifically isolated his gameplay and stitched together his story through that particular critical lens.

Will's game in Big Brother 2, despite many of the warts I bring up in the video, is one of the best games ever played, and the most important game to exist in the history of the Big Brother US franchise. Similar to Richard Hatch in Survivor, he put the show on his shoulders and defined it like no other.

Some might argue that had Will not done this, someone else instead would... but I disagree. To this day, Will is still one-of-a-kind to the series. There has never been another Dr. Will-esque game in BBUS. Many have cited him, attempted to mimic him, and have adopted what he brought, but never have they 1:1 captured his devilish charm and quick wit.

I can't cover every single detail of his story with this video - there's too much. But instead I wanted to discuss the bigger points to his game that exemplify exactly why he's held in such high regard within the community: his understanding of winning people over.

Whether it be through circumstance, skill, or some combination of the two, Will understood the fundamental necessity to convince a jury of his peers to reward him -- and way before the finale night. I would argue most BB players fail to recognize this crucial element of the game, that is the importance of having a winning story. And it doesn't matter where you start (as is clearly the case with Will in BB2), so long as your journey to the finish line trends in the right direction.

Will weaponized the diary room to his advantage, crafted a winning narrative the moment he became the underdog, and recognized his position in everyone elses games before they did. While he was definitely lucky in many occasions, his understanding and execution of these core elements are what has set him above just about everyone else in the history of the show. I can't stress this enough -- he understood the game despite it never being played before ever, and he executed so many superb moves throughout. It's one thing to 'get' the game, it's another to actually excel at it.

And this is just his story in BB2. We haven't even touched All-Stars.
