Cellular Potts Model: connective tissue layer (fibroblasts) formation around the growing tumor.

I've made a visualization of my simple model of a growing tumor and the formation of a protective layer around it from connective tissue cells - fibroblasts.

The model was built within the Graner-Glazier-Hogeweg approach or Cellular Potts Models, that is, exclusively due to differential adhesion for cells of different tissues to each other.

The increase of a tumor to certain steady state size is based on the threshold volume for malignant cells, below which cell division does not occur.

An additional relaxation mechanism was also implemented, when healthy cells (gray ones) die if their volume is much smaller than the target volume.

And in fact, this video is a by-product of the main more complex model. A "fibroblasts coat" (blue cells) can play a huge role in the subsequent infiltration of the immune system cells into tumors, simply blocking it. This is presumably one of the mechanisms responsible for the very low infiltration in mice B16F10 melanoma.

But in this video there are no immune cells yet :)
