Ye Vagabonds - The Bothy Lads

Following the success of their live stream, we are delighted to share Ye Vagabond's performance of 'The Bothy Lads' and a few words from Brían and Diarmaid on how they found the song.

"We've always had a great interest in Scottish songs and the strong connection they have to the Donegal singing tradition - songs that travelled over and back with seasonal workers for generations until recent times.The Bothy Lads is a cautionary tale warning young women against these seasonal labourers. We heard it first from our friends Luke Mercier and Anthony Mannion (of Old Hannah) one night in Walsh's, and then from Cilla Fisher and Artie Trezise's album For Foul Day and Fair."

Courage will take place on Tuesday and Thursday nights at 8PM for the next four weeks and it is made possible with the support of the Government of Ireland, the Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, Intel Ireland and RTE.
