Global luxury brand Ralph Lauren is facing strong backlash for selling a printed cotton wrap skirt inspired by traditional Indian Bandhani art for ₹44,800. The brand did not mention India or the skilled artisans behind this centuries-old tie-dye craft from Gujarat and Rajasthan.

In India, real handcrafted Bandhani clothes usually cost between ₹500 and ₹5,000. Many people online are calling this cultural appropriation and questioning why traditional creators are not given credit or fair value.

This is not the first time. Big fashion brands like Prada, Dior, and Dolce & Gabbana have also been accused of using Indian designs without proper recognition.

The issue raises important questions about protecting traditional art, fair pay for artisans, and ethical fashion practices.
