GE Digital & PWC - Utility OpEx vs CapEx & The Opportunity of Hybrid Cloud Computing

Sean Moser, Chief Product Officer, GE Digital Grid Software and Mark Panza, Managing Director, PWC discuss acquisition and utilization of assets and the unique impacts on a utility's OpEx vs CapEx. Hybrid cloud computing introduces new opportunities, and GE Digital is orienting the GridOS software portfolio to enable utilities to maximize these opportunities when and where needed.

Utilities are now invested in CapEx more than any other industry due to cost pressures and customer affordability. Investing in capital assets is key for utilities investing in what is best to customers bringing new capabilities to customers without impacting customer costs.

The role GE Vernova plays on the software is about how to help utilities manage operational expense (OpEx) by leverage our software to reduce utility operational cost by keeping the lines safe minimizing impact that occurs during a disruption event. GirdOS® allows to take software on prem, cloud, and edge helps to contain costs and account for cloud solutions as CapEX.
