Hey guys! Here's just an overview of our solution to the transmission recall for Nissan Alitmas cvt overheating issue.
Cvt transmissions have less moving parts than a regular transmission but have more metal to metal contact than a regular automatic thus they create alot of heat. They are more compact than AT trans And hold less oil therfore the oil gets even hotter than a regular At trans.
Performance transmission cooler installation along with new fluid once a year does the trick. Recomend a fluid drain and fill not a flush . it must be cvt fluid from nissan or castrol equivalent
Changing the filter every year isn't necessary the filter element is a metal screen not a paper filter. I recommend changing the filter every 2 to 3 years 50-60k miles or so. Fluid drain and fill at least once every 20-30k miles.
After this video we went one step above and programmed our radiator fans(using UpRev Osiris software) to turn on above 180 degrees F to cool the engine/ coolant and cvt cooler even better (stock fans turn on at 205 degrees F).
