When Your Parents Choose Your Spouse....
Once a week Shanghai’s central park becomes an open air dating market - where thousands of parents put out resumes of their single children in the hopes of finding them a husband or wife.
Many of the children don’t even realize their parents are spouse shopping for them.
Chinese society puts great value on the survival of the family line. Since most urban Chinese only have one child, parental pressure to get married can be immense. If the children wait to long, Mom or Dad might just get worried enough to step in.
The People’s Park Blind Date Corner is open every Saturday and Sunday, from noon to 5PM. Thousands of parents gather and pin their children’s resume to umbrellas, paper bags, tree trunks – anywhere there’s an inch of space.
Find out:
• What are the most important stats people look for in a partner?
• Why the young person’s registration is crucial to dating success.
• What does “car-and-home-equipped” mean and why does it matter?
• What do you do if your child wants to find a spouse but is living overseas?
• How old are you when you become a “leftover woman”?
Finally, meet the hopeful mother of a beautiful young woman with just one minor obstacle to marital bliss…
