VINTAGE RESTORATION! 1950s Hazardous Conditions 287EX Big Beam Lantern Restoration U-C Light Mfg Co

Don't call it a flashlight! This vintage 1950s era Teledyne/U-C Light Mfg Co. model 287EX is a 'hand lantern' per its creator.

These vintage flashlights or hand lanterns was manufactured by U-C Light Mfg. Co. for Teledyne Industries and would have been used in environments where there was oil, gas, or other chemicals that would have reacted with steel or chrome and corroded them quickly. As a result, all of the metal on the 287EX model (aside from the handle and reflector) was made from brass. This afforded me a pretty cool opportunity.

Watch as I take this light from a 'Big Beam' to a 'Bling Beam' with a full polish!

This flashlight restoration was really fun from removing the 'brass rust' to giving it the high polish treatment. I did end up slicing my finger and i caught myself on the wire wheel (see if you can spot the mark on my arm...) but in the end it was worth it because this lantern restoration turned out stunning!
