Controlling a tokamak plasma
Plasma control is the foundation of tokamak operation. It is required to keep the plasma fuel away from the walls of the machine so that it can be super-heated to fusion temperatures and kept stable while fusion reactions occur.
The use of plasma control and feedback is a big difference between ST40 during the last campaign and this next one (during 2020) where ST40 aims to reach fusion temperatures of 100 million degrees.
