E&LS PACKING RAIL CARS LIKE SARDINES IN CHANNING, MI RAILROAD YARD | Jason Asselin

After seeing the massive railroad snowplow pass by this week, I took a drive to Channing, MI where the Escanaba & Lake Superior Railroad have a large rail-yard including a Y-turn with tracks going to Amasa and further west.

When I got there ELS 402 ( EMD GP38) & ELS 600 (EMD FP7) were busy at work pulling long lines of cars from the Amasa bound line and pushing them north, stuffing them in like sardines! I spent a few hours watching the switch cars back and forth before hooking up to some log cars and leaving southward. If I had to guess, I'd say Friday would be a good day to chase the plow train!
