Education Must Make History Again, with Zak Stein(1): What matters most in a pre-figurative culture?

This is the first of two videos examining the ideas in Zak Stein's recent essay for Perspectiva: Education Must Make History Again: Remembering Comenius in a time between worlds. We end up focussing on the particular meaning of the 'education' that has to make history, by considering the need for inter-generational transmission in general, and particularly in cultures like our that might be seen as 'pre-figurative', namely when the younger generations may know better what they need to understand than the older generations, and yet both of course have a great deal to learn from each other. The next video will explore Comenius himself in more depth, and also what it really means to be 'in a time between worlds'.

This essay builds on a prior essay also mentioned in the video:
Education is the Metacrisis.

The Margaret Mead book mentioned is Culture and Commitment(1970).
There is a New York Times review of it here: https://www.nytimes.com/1970/03/08/archives/culture-and-commitment-culture-the-country-freedom.html
