DEICIDE's Steve Asheim on Next Album, Songwriting, Departure Of Jack Owen & Controversies (2017)
Progenitors of death metal and diehard crusaders against Christ, Deicide are smashing their way across the United States. While on tour, Chuck Marshall from Metal Wani had a chance to sit down with drummer Steve Asheim.
During their conversation, Steve talks about the current tour and fan support. While the band does not have a huge social media presence, they still find a way to get the word out. Steve delves into the bands stance on social media and memories of MySpace.
While the new record is written, Deicide still needs to get vocals and leads completed. Steve hopes to have the new album out by the end of 2017. Steve also gives some insights into the musical direction of the new material with band writing fast, brutal and technical songs. He also talks about a song off the new record which sounds like Judas Priest.
The conversation delves into how new guitarist Mark English is working out as well as what lead to departure of previous guitarist Jack Owen. We also talk to Steve about how controversies have impacted the bands fan base and what misconceptions fans have had about the band.
Finally we check in to get a glimpse into future tour plans.
