Better Living - How effective is Evaportive Cooling?
http://www.gasworks.net.au Staying cool in summer need not make you hot under the collar when the power bills arrive. Evaporative air conditioning is efficient and cost about the same power as a light bulb to run.

Hi and welcome to better living with Gasworks.
In this episode we look at air conditioning and specifically evaporative air conditioning. Today's high tec units run quieter and more efficiently than ever before. But first let's look at how they work.
The unit is installed on the roof and today's unit are made from a UV stable polymer plastic, so they are lighter and don't rust. A centrally positioned fan draws in the hot air through pads. These pads are moistened by water and as the water evaporates it cools the air. The cool air is then pumped through ducting to cool your home. With refrigerated systems you need to keep all doors and windows shut as the air is recycled time and time again. With evaporative air conditioning your windows and doors open. The incoming cool air pushes the hot air out the open windows and door leaving you with a cool environment. This means your home has constant fresh air passing through it which of course is a much healthier option.
These systems work extremely well in most parts of Australia, with the exception of the top end.
With rising energy costs it's good to know that evaporative air conditioning is by far the most cost efficient system. It's cost about the same as running a light bulb which means you don't have to worry whether you can afford to run the air conditioning system. It is also far kinder to the environment leaving a far smaller carbon footprint.
Gasworks recommend Breezair designed and made in Australian by Seeley International an all Australian company so they are manufactured for our harsh conditions as well as keeping Australians employed.
So if you want to be cool without getting hot under the collar over electricity bills them an evaporative system may be just right for you.
One of the best things you can do is take the time to speak with the home climate solutions experts at your local Gasworks Showroom.
With years of experience in sales and installation, they know exactly what type of system will work better for you and is best suited to your needs and budget.
Or you can jump onto the Gasworks website where you'll find loads of great information.
