Jared Huffman: Slippery Slope to Theocracy

U.S. Rep. Jared Huffman is the co-founder of the Congressional Freethought Caucus and has represented California’s second congressional district since 2013. He was formerly Mormon before becoming the only “out” nonbelieving member of Congress, identifying as an agnostic. "There are quite a few," said Rep. Huffman on nonreligious members of Congress. But he's the only one willing to publicly identify as such.

Rep. Huffman talked about the importance of the Congressional Freethought Caucus, how he got his best poll numbers after coming out as nonreligious, the "slippery slope to theocracy," how "creepy" it is to see Christian nationalists making policy, his work defending the bright line of separation between state and church, his favorite freethinkers, the nonreligious voting bloc, secular vs. religious oaths, the rise of Christian nationalism, how Trump is using religion, and making policy when you think "the rapture is around the corner" is "dangerous crazy stuff."
