Amazon Network Synthetic Monitoring | Amazon Web Services
CloudWatch Network Synthetic Monitor provides proactive, active monitoring of hybrid network performance, including packet loss and round-trip latency, for traffic between your Amazon VPC and any configured destination IP address, whether on-premises, third-party cloud, or beyond. Rather than relying on passive traffic observation, Network Synthetic Monitor continuously sends TCP and ICMP probes from a source subnet you configure, measuring round-trip time, packet loss, and overall connection health in real time. All metrics flow directly into CloudWatch dashboards and alarms, giving you a unified view alongside your other network monitoring tools.
Network Synthetic Monitor also surfaces AWS network health directly through the Network Health Indicator, so you can immediately determine whether a detected issue originates in the AWS network or your environment, without guesswork. If the issue is on the AWS side, you can notify AWS directly, reducing time to resolution. Network health visibility is available exclusively for Direct Connect connections; latency and packet loss metrics are available across all connection types and destination IPs.
Network Synthetic Monitor is agentless and fully managed. To get started, simply select a subnet, define a destination address, and begin monitoring in minutes.
