ONE MIX $70 Amazon Projector | Review & Demo

Have you ever wondered if a cheap, under $70 projector is worth it? In this video I show demo and review a cheap, under $70 projector from amazon called the ONE MIX projector.

If you are looking for a dedicated home theater projector, this is probably not the projector you should choose, but my guess is that most people are not planning on building an amazing home theater around a $70 projector. This is a great projector for a kids room or patio movies, or anytime you need to set up a projector to throw up an image on a wall and take it down easily.

This review takes into consideration the price point that it is sold at. Obviously, it is not going to compare to a $2000 projector. Rather, I using as a frame of reference, my lack of expectations from a cheap projector. I am not assuming it is great in any way before demoing it. That way I can contrast its good points against low expectations. So remember... it's a $70 projector.

Brightness: It claims on the box it is 2400 Lumens, but don't think it is in fact that bright, but was able to project a usable image in a room with ambient light.

Color: The colors were more rich and vivid than I expected.

Contrast: The contrast was not great, but also not expected to be great at this price point.

Keystone: In theory it works, but blurs the image on top or bottom on the extremes. The only way to get a focused across the entire image is to project straight onto the screen.

Focus: Better than expected. I was actually able to dial in the focus well.

Resolution: It claims to be a 1080 projector, which I suspected was not true. It kind of is and isn't. I will take a 1080 signal, but output a standard definition image. It is nice that you don't have to down convert a high definition signal for it to project. So I was able to hook up my HD Apple TV and the projector converted the signal to the lower resolution.

Build: It's cheap. Nothing that impressed my other than the case. It has a semi hard case for storage. I thought this was a plus because I think most people are doing to keep this in a closet for when they need it. The case will protect it.

Remote and Buttons: It did not come with batteries, so I did not test with the remote. The buttons on the top of the projector were easy enough to navigate though.

Speakers: I was not expecting speakers at all, so this was a plus. Not too loud, but kids could easily watch a movie using the built in speaker. It does have an 1/8 inch jack out to hook up to bigger speakers too.

Conclusion: For $70, in some circumstances, this is a great projector. I don't plan on hosting a movie night in my home theater using this projector, but if my child had a sleep over and wanted to watch a movie in her room. This would be a perfect solution. Recently, I loaned an extra projector to a friend for his child's birthday party to play pictures on during the party on the wall. I wish I had this projector then. It would have been a great solution for that too. Overall, if you are not expecting to replace a true home theater projector and need it for a simple setup, this is a good solution.
