Tour of my new to me 2018 Freightliner Cascadia.

When growing up, everyone dreams and imagines of being one thing or another, Astronaut, police officer, firefighter etc.

One of my dreams was playing drums and that dream became a reality. I was blessed to be able to make a living playing drums for many years. I met a ton of great friends, seen a lot of awesome places and had an unbelievably great time through those years.

The money wasn’t always great but you can’t even begin put a price on the experience.
When times were hard I always had a side job doing the other thing I do best, driving. I think almost any “real” job that I have had involved driving whether it was delivering pizza, driving for FedEx, delivering appliances for Lowe’s or whatever, which is what led me to this decision.

I have always been infatuated with big trucks, tour buses, large vehicles in general and have always wanted to get my CDL and learn to drive one of these awesome machines but the timing and money was never right for classes and training etc.

Well, the timing finally worked out, as I was laid off, I received a bit of a severance package. With that and a little push from an old friend, this allowed me to finally take that step without worrying about the small amount of training pay involved during the first month or so of training.

I am both nervous and excited to be starting on this new journey as it will open many doors for future possibilities. I have already passed my knowledge exam in order to get my CDL permit (that was crazy, I couldn’t tell you the last time I had to study for a test) and I will start my training tomorrow morning, Feb. 11th.
Follow along as I enter the world of Big Rig driving. This is beginning from obtaining my CDL permit to CDL School with R.E. West, passing my CDL road test, going out with a trainer then hopefully getting into my own Freightliner Cascadia and becoming a driver for R.E. West Transportation. I hope you follow along in the experience with me.
