Speaking Rock' with Chris Cornell

Chris Cornell is best known as the singer/songwriter of the rock band Soundgarden, that helped re-define hard rock music in the early 90's and set the stage for a new breed of rock musicians that later called them selves alternative rock or power house grunge. Besides Sound Garden Chris was also the front man of Audio Slave and Temple of the Dog, which again turned out to be ground breaking rock records. VOA's Imran Siddiqui caught up with Chris at club 9:30 in downtown Washington DC, right before his gig. Chris talked about his life, his work, his music, his family, but he also spoke about the future of rock music, which according to Chris, will always be an instrument of change.

VOA News interviewed Mr. Cornell in 2009, but the data was almost lost. In 2012 VOA Urdu got back in touch with Chris Cornell's management and they were instrumental in helping to obtain some of Chris Cornell's videos from Universal that are used in this interview. In communications with the representatives of UMG the credits that were sent to VOA are applied and attributed to Universal Music Group, the directors of the videos as well as to the artists and the bands in the videos.
