Mussar in Jewish History: Crisis and Resurgence?

A look at three highly influential figures in the Jewish literary tradition of ethical works emphasizing teshuvah (repentance). Working thesis: Rabbi Moses Maimonides, Rabbi Moses Cordovero and Rabbi Moses Chaim Luzzatto were all, each in their own way, children of survivors. Their childhood experience of communal trauma influenced their world-views and contributed to their literary works.
