Scott Eastwood and Rod Davis Lurie Talk About Their Film 'Lucky Strike' - Interview

Ahead of the release of ‘Lucky Strike’ in theaters Friday, June 26, 2026, Scott Eastwood joins director Rod Lurie to discuss their World War II survival drama inspired by true events.

The origins of ‘Lucky Strike’ date back decades to co-writer and producer Marc Frydman’s teenage years in France. While participating in a historical program that reunited American World War II veterans with the European battlefields where they fought, Frydman heard a veteran recount his experience surviving the he Ardennes Offensive (Battle of the Bulge). The detailed story remained with him for years and ultimately became the foundation for the film.

When Frydman later shared the screenplay with Lurie, the director recognized the story’s cinematic potential. The project would eventually become ‘Lucky Strike’, a wartime thriller centered on survival, courage and ingenuity during one of the conflict’s most pivotal battles.

Inspired by true events researched by Frydman, ‘Lucky Strike’ follows a soldier trapped behind enemy lines during the final major German offensive of World War II, later known as the Battle of the Bulge. Armed only with a Motorola SCR-300 radio, a technology that became battle-ready near the end of the war, he must rely on his intelligence and espionage skills to slow the advancing Nazi Panzer forces while attempting to make his way home.

During the interview, Eastwood and Lurie discuss bringing the story to the screen. The film co-stars Colin Hanks, Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor and Taylor John Smith.

‘Lucky Strike’ comes to theaters on Friday, June 26, 2026, from Roadside Attractions and Saban Films.
