Jeffrey Epstein explained fractional reserve banking to Steve Bannon — DOJ Epstein Files #Shorts

Jeffrey Epstein spent the last years of his life trying to convince the world he was a financial philosopher.

After his 2008 Florida conviction — 18 months in a work-release programme that his victims called a sweetheart deal — he returned to New York and resumed his social life as if nothing had happened. Dinners with academics. Speaking invitations. A constant campaign to reassert himself as a serious intellectual.

Part of that campaign was Steve Bannon. Beginning in January 2018, the two men met regularly. Bannon was building a documentary. Epstein, according to the DOJ files, was essentially submitting to media training — rehearsing his public persona, shaping his narrative.

This clip is from one of those sessions. Epstein explaining banking. Speaking in the measured, pedagogical tone of a man who has done this many times. The performance of someone who wants you to think: this is a serious person. A thinker. Not that.

The DOJ seized the footage after Epstein’s arrest in July 2019. Bannon reportedly had around 15 hours of material. It sat in a federal vault until February 2026.

As for Epstein’s actual finances: no one has ever satisfactorily explained where his money came from. His firm had no public clients other than Les Wexner. The source of the townhouse, the island, the planes — officially, still unclear.

He understood banking. That much appears to be true.
