Ganesh puja at the beginning is half the work done - How to do it to gain full benefit?

Narada asked, “Doing Ganesh puja itself makes the Creator of this four fold world of Jivas half satisfied. This was known to the ancient Munis who were experts in yogic principles. Now, how can we please him fully? Tell us about it O Prabhu!”
Surya said, “The form of Lord of Jivas is the manifest and unmanifest world where Ganesha is the Atman Pancham, Brahmanaspati. Pleasing Ganesha is like pleasing the Atman in all. No doubt it is necessary to follow the injunctions in Vedas but each one has his own preferences as to what is desirable for nourishment of the gross bodies and accordingly he makes offerings for worship. Their karma for bodily enjoyments are for bodily pleasures.
It is by pleasing the Atman in the body that one can attain total satisfaction. Shastras have prescribed actions for pleasing the Atman. For bodily enjoyments one has to praise Ganesha. Atman satisfaction is possible only through Ganesh puja. So, they do off in Ganesh Puja all that pleases themselves as it is ultimately for the Atman Ganesha in them that the offering is made.
Narada asked, “How does one who worships Ganapati alone, and does not do any actions to please the Loka Deva, get his physical pleasures?”
Surya replied, “One who has obtained Ganesh Deeksha is Eka nishtha. He is totally engaged in pleasing Ganesha alone. So also a person bound to a King has singular affection for the King and stands up for him. If a person is initiated into Bhakti marga then Gajanana becomes like that. He is a friend and his position with Gajanana is the same as a King. When a person is initiated in Upasana Marga the relation is that of a son and King.
A person initiated into the perceptible knowledge of Brahmanaspati, is like a brother, son, or friend of a King, such as Royalty. A Minister, as stated earlier, can also please by doing the same thing. By presenting him with what pleases him most, the King feels happy about it instantly. If one hurts his wishes, the King may get angry.
